| Hey, I am not stalking, dude. I enjoyed the game. I was simply surprised to see your name that I made the screenshot. (I'm actually fan of such maps). _______________________________ |

| The map pach played is different different from the screenshots (2007-8 ver vs 2010 ver ). If you want, I can post the open version of the one that the screenshots come from. It's not finished yet, the person I worked with was an excellent terrainer but he quit for SC2. And I decided to stop it's dev for NOTDA. One of the qualities I wanted my maps to have is the best performance (no source of engine lag). The terrain on that map is not simply walkable models, it's very optimized for the wc3 engine (camera is natural/units are scaled down/very few doodads that rely on walkable features/fewer units to prevent lag etc). Some lessons I learned from this dev: - Spoiler:
-
- Never rely on camera to zoom out, instead scale down the WHOLE map, better performance, and less annoying when users scroll accidentally. - Terrain > code, that is, terrain and code should be developed separately. Units items etc should be developed together with the code. (to make above point easier to reach) - Terraining is an advanced art when it comes to deflating the map size and using the wc3c.net perfection models. - UMSWE - I learned how to balance shit properly, while making the game fun for all players (2009 ver, for example, has autoproduction for orcs, and that makes it harder for human players) - Walkable destructable are EVIL. Never rely on them unless it's last resort or something small (something like helm's deep, you'll get 5 fps). - The need for vJass to accomplish anything advanced.
