hi guys,

back when i unlocked the famous commander, i used particle shield on me and my mates, and vV_0 and others told me not to use it!

but why? this spell is a great helper in making the team survive!

a little math:

lets say a player affected by particel shield gets damaged by 100.
a full leveld particle shield distributed 60% of the damage to the other linked players. that is 60 dmg less for the target. those 60dmg are partly done to the linked players, for 10 other ppl, this equals to 6 dmg each.

that 6 dmg is easily healed with nanite release and/or self healing abilities.

the target only suffers 40dmg, which can not kill him.

so what is the problem with this spell?

I guess some people dont want to share their HP. Wink

Other then that, I have no idea why. Is the spell buggy by any chance?

becuase people don't want to share damage at all. They want to get awards and so forth and how are you going to get an award if some newb gets hit and you're linked to him by the particle shield. Id rather it be an actual shield that protects against damage and not distribute damage across other players.

ok i thought of something like that...

implementing that those hits dont count towards the usual hits would be very hard...
maybe change the shield to soemthing like "prevents the linked units from 100 (lvl1) - 300(lvl6)" dmg", like the shield of the priest in wow

(numbers can be changed)

I don't know WoW but i would rather it be a damage buffer of certain hits per level than sharing hits.

TBH, I don't care if you use it or not; just don't drag my 1-time only minis into it Smile

They aren't easy to keep alive and I'd like them to help the team instead of being injured by the team.

I'm sure if you use it on the right classes/players, it's wonderful. When the spell works the way it does (Jumps at every nearby patron of the 'poison'), you get units/heroes which you really wouldn't want taking damage. I used to use commander a lot and I've seen the damage spread out. You get unwanteds taking damage, they die and it's all for not Sad

Here's how I found the ability useful:

Summon your soldiers and sit by the guy who's going to be 'tanking'. Use the ability on the guy tanking, and spread the dmg out through your minis and yourself. If you take too much, you can heal yourself and your minis (Rush) are only temps.

It's a good ability, just don't use it when there's friendlies (that don't want this 'buff') around. It's like throwing a grenade; sure it's going to rape some zombies, but if there's a guy in there you don't want to die, you're obviously not going to chuck it right?

PS: Don't reference World of Warcraft!
